TREE WITH SKIRTS AND PAD
For purposes of illustration, a bare tree is used.  Once the saddle has been built and a saddle pad added the position of the saddle will change.   In the example below, the finished saddle with pad raises the overall position of the saddle while the angles remain the same.  In this case the saddle may be riding higher than one would want, so a wider gullet may be appropriate.  Therefore, no matter what method is used  [temples, tree, wire etc.}  to measure or fit the saddle the end result of the finished saddle must be considered.
